Spalding Consulting, Inc.is seeking a Computer/Network Engineer in Patuxent River, MD. Position Type: Full-Time 

Essential Functions:

• Performs comprehensive analyses of hardware/software concepts, designs and test requirements.
• Reviews and prepares engineering and technical analyses, reports, change proposals, and other technical documentation.
• Administers complex areas of the network, security analysis and planning.
•  Attend architecture and planning meetings.
• Provide very responsive support for day to day requests from, development, support, and business analyst teams.
• Performance analysis and debugging of slow running development and production processes.
•  Assist with development and maintain the system documentation.
• Occasional travel to support shipboard installations
• Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications and Experience:


Required:

• Minimum 4 years’ experience working with electrical/electronic, audio/video, computer or information systems.
• Experience with networked systems.
• Experience in using various Linux commands for daily operations and ability to analyze and create Shell scripts.
• Troubleshooting experience required.
• CompTIA Security + certification. Ability to obtain within 90 days.

Desired:

• Knowledge of SQL desired.
• Experience with computer networking and virtualization.
• Knowledge of cyber security.
• Knowledge of Accreditation processes.
• Experience with backup and recovery of HDFS file system preferred.
• Experience with NiFi data flows preferred.
• Experience with backup and recovery of Oracle database preferred.

Security Clearance: 
Must be eligible to obtain a Security Clearance.  Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.  

Education:

BS or BA degree in computer science, computer engineering, or information systems is required.
